Buying a new power supply is not an issue. (I will check how much watts I have, tomorrow)

The question is, is my CPU good enough.

New CPU means, new mainboard, means new housing. means new pc :|

What CPU do you have now? if it's newer then my second gen I7 you don't
have to fuzz, if it's a 1st gen I7 you would need to upgrade tho

You can fit a 1080 on it np
But we both will need a upgrade before the end of the year i guess
CPU speed will soon not be enough to play some games, the rest is still good enough to cope.
When you bought a 1080 offcourse lol
Bare in mind you need a 8 pin power cord from your PSU to the card and in some cases
you even need a 8 pin and 6 pin power supply from the PSU to the card to run it, so make
sure you have either or both when you go for the big girl card :D

I checked this today.

This is how my PC looked after 6 month under my desk

So I opened this dirty thing up.... (already took out the grapic card in this pic)

Image

Dirt everywhere

Image

Then I took a look at the PSU. :? What ? Only 430 Whatt ? Was I out of my mind when I bought this thing? "They" say you need at least 500Watt for an GTX 1080.

to be continued......

That's why i try to stick to my plan to clean the damn box every 4-6 weeks. ;) I still remember the "jet" i had under the table with my last PC. Especially in summer it was awfully loud.

If this other PSU still works i would save the money, but for best performance and moneysaving the workload of such PSU should be in the frame of it's limit (80-90% should be good). If you use a 900w PSU and have only parts needing like 300-400w you are throwing money out of the window, because it does not adapt to the lower needs it just runs with full force.

Well...

lets try this out. I have a little device to measure the power consumption.

PC Only....

While idling in Windows. Its around 61 to 68 Watt.
And while running The Crew with hight settings its about 160 to 195 Watts.

With this 900 Watt PSU

Had some problems lately with my headphones. I was using an external usb sound card. Not working so well. So i ordered an internal sound card. Also a new usb Pci-e card. Installed them today. Hopefully my sound problems are gone now. Future will tell

Here some pics :geek:
