rFactor GT3 update 2023

The GT3 update for rFactor 2 has finally arrived and players are eager to see how the newly updated vehicles compare to Assetto Corsa Competizione’s GT3 racing experience. rFactor 2’s GT3 class has undergone several upgrades including Balance of Performance (BoP) adjustments, improved physics and tyre models, and a new sound engine.

GT3-only update released on time

The update was delayed until the 21st of February, but the GT3-only update was released on time, allowing players to get a feel for the revised grand tourers. Studio 397 collected a significant amount of data to help adjust the BoP of the GT3 class and acknowledges that further tweaks may be necessary. The GT3 tyre model has been updated to better reflect the new content in rFactor 2 and the cars now feature a non-adjustable tender spring for optimal suspension performance and shift protection.

New sound engine

Players have noted that the sounds of the cars have improved, with the GT3s now utilizing rFactor 2’s new sound engine. However, there is still some room for improvement, with some engine sounds not sounding much different than before. In terms of handling, the cars are described as being “nicer to drive” but whether they match ACC’s standard remains to be seen.

Downshift protection system

Drivers have also encountered some issues with the downshift protection system, which is designed to protect the engine and transmission from excessive revs and forces. The system can be finicky and requires precise pedal inputs to complete a clean downshift.

Significant improvements

In conclusion, rFactor 2’s GT3 update has made significant improvements to the handling and sounds of the vehicles, but there is still some room for improvement. The full Q1 2023 update is expected to arrive on the 21st of February and players are eager to see what other upgrades it may bring to the game.
